Please refer to these instructions as general help from Desert Solutions with our OEM brand systems, in addition to the instructions provided with any MFG boxed products included with your system. Please be carefull to retain all packaging materials at least for the first 30 day period in case anything needs to be returned or RMA'd. It is always a good idea to retain your packaging material for the entire warranty period if possible, or if you forsee moving or shipping your equipment, the original packaging is the best method of protecting it from damage during transport.

Setup
Instructions for your new Desert Solutions PC!
Read through these before you start! 1. Unpack each item carefully as you use it in the following steps. Be careful not to cut into cables, or damage disks, and hardware as you open the packaging material. Set the packaging material to the side and keep it until you are sure everything is working properly. You will need the packaging material should anything need to be returned. Warranty “RMA” returns often require the original packaging, and it is very helpful if you retained it. Also if anything is missing, please wait until the end of the setup process (It may be in another package) before you call, but do notify Desert Solutions immediately, we will do our best to get you the missing part ASAP. 2. Make available the location where your new PC will be used. If you have a new desk, locate the desk where it is to stay. If you will use an existing location, Please remove the old PC, clean up any dust and debris prior to setting up your new PC. You do not want any harmful dust to get pulled into the new PC to do damage. Also insure you have Power, Phone and/or Cable jacks to support your new PC. This may require relocating or adding. 3. Unpack the Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor. If you have purchased an LCD, Be careful not to put any pressure on the screen or damage it when unpacking or setting up. Set these items up in a way that they will be comfortable for you to use. Sit in your chair. The keyboard and mouse should not require bending of your wrists in any awkward positions. Your arms should drop at a slight angle from your elbows to your hands. Not angled sharply up or down. The monitor’s center (middle) should be at eye level when sitting. You should not have to tilt your head up or down to see the screen. These steps are important to avoid any injuries to yourself during long term use. 4. Unpack any Printers, Scanners or other add on devices. These will usually come with their own instructions. Follow those instructions for unpacking and setting up the device up to the part where software should be installed. 5. Unpack the CPU (the tower or main unit) – this usually says ATX or “tower” on the box. This should include your power cord as well. At this time route all cables out of the way, (down the back or through the cable holes in your desk) and to the back of the CPU. Plug the cables in as follows: Top down, or Left to right on the back of the CPU most common (sometimes slightly varies) Power cord, The largest port, next to a fan, the switch there should be set to 110/115 for USA – The Black Power cord plugs in here. Next the small round holes, Purple is keyboard, Green is mouse. Usually KB on the left and Mouse on the right (when facing back of unit). If you have a cable modem, It can plug in either using the RJ45 10/100 LAN (Large Telephone jack) or via USB – The LAN is the preferred installation method and the default setup method. The USB ports are small rectangle slots. This is where most printers and scanners plug in. Opt to plug those in using the rear USB’s so that if equipped, you can use the front USB’s for optional accessories later. The Long Pink jack is for Parallel Printer hookup if your printer uses a Parallel cable. The Blue three row (15pin) jack is VGA for the Monitor. Speakers plug in to the small “headphone” jack. It will say “line out” or have a picture of a speaker in most cases. If not, you can figure this out later by trial and error. If you have a modem installed, you want to plug the phone cord (wall jack) into the port that says “line or telco” depending on your modem. 6. If you have any additional devices, follow their instructions for plugging in and cabling up. 7. Slide your CPU to it’s final location allowing room to reach the power buttons and front’s of the drives – also leaving about 8 inches in front of the Cdrom for it’s drive to open out. 8. Power on your Monitor, Speakers, Printer, (other devices) then CPU in that order. If your CPU does not start, check to insure that the power switch on the back is clicked to the on position – 1 in, 0 out – then try again to power up with the power button. 9. Listen to the beeps, and watch for the display. Your computer should now boot all the way up and thank you for purchasing. It will then also detect and install any “found” devices. Read the prompts carefully and put in any requested disks, and follow any requested instructions such as “plug in your printer” or similar. 10. You will be prompted to setup an internet account or use your existing one. If you need help with this, Please first look through the instructions provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and contact them for setup of their specific software or network settings. 11. Additional Software provided may not yet be installed on your PC: You can install the desired software by placing the supplied CD into the drive (Press the button on the front of the drive) The Software install should start automatically and likely will prompt you through any required steps and ask you questions on your preferences. 12. If your PC was purchased with add-on software, if is not always fully installed because many software applications require the PC to be connected to the internet prior to installation. (Example: Virus software always requires internet connection first for updating and setup… for that reason it is not yet installed). This may be time consuming, but you then have the option to chose setup options custom to you, and not install any software that you may not be interested in using. 13. Finally, Enjoy your PC! You are likely to receive years of continued use and productivity from your machine. Be sure to contact Desert Solutions if ever you are experiencing problems that the help features on your PC cannot solve. Don’t forget to tell us if you love your new PC, and tell your friends too. As a small business, word of mouth referrals are our main source of sales, and we appreciate every referral. 14. Don’t forget to register your products with the MFG as requested and on the supplied forms. This helps you receive support and warranty repair on the individual parts of your system. Often the MFG’s will provide excellent support to registered owners. 15. What to do if you are having trouble: E-mail: sam@desertsolutions.net Contact us via the web at www.desertsolutions.net or call 602-770-6438 – If you are outside of your Desert Solutions warranty, please try to gain warranty support from the MFG if still within their coverage period. If you are not able to get warranty service due to time lapse, Please do contact Desert Solutions – often we can replace or repair any problems at a MUCH lower cost than the local electronics sales and repair places. This is a great benefit to you. 16. Save these instructions along with any provided software “disks” and manuals or extra parts in a safe place (Put them in the provided bag, or a large Freezer zip lock, and tape them to the top or side of your machine (Don’t cover the air holes). This packet is critical for repairing, upgrading or reloading your system, and will be of help to you if you move. Many first time Desert Solutions customers arrive with “no” disks for their machine and often pay more for their repairs as we have to try to gain required drivers, or replace the components if no drivers are available. KEEP this important packet located with your PC… Thank
you for purchasing a Desert Every
